Born in France in 1974, Gilles Viandier first graduated as an architect in 1997, questioning the urban and artistic conversion of industrial sites in Europe. Trained to contemporary dance in both Centre Chorégraphique National of Rennes and of Montpellier, he danced since 2000 in various independent companies in Montpellier, Marseille, Lausanne, Paris, Tilburg, Copenhagen, Ukraine, Geneva and Barcelona. Between 2009 and 2014 he lived in Berlin and worked with Abraham Hurtado, Ami Garmon, Willi Dorner, Jeremy Wade, Christoph Winkler, in The Village with 25 other Berliner choreographers for the Tanznacht 2010, and William Forsythe.
Also musician (piano, clarinet, singing), he took part in various musical projects and designed sets for theatre. Since 2006 he developed performances questioning public space and viewer’s role within #Number# and Street Pantone projects, investigating body commitment, perception of urban space and specific territory of many European cities. He was invited in residency in Budapest, Cluj-Napoca/Romania and festival Antigel in Geneva. Since 2014 he's based in the South of Cadiz in Spain.
